What a surprise! When I woke up yesterday morning I had no idea I would on impulse call through to Radio 702 to apply for the R1000 Business Startup Challenge, a challenge to create a business and make a profit from R1000 within 6 weeks... Well, they had a few calls from prospective candidates and then the Listeners had to vote and nobody was more surprised than me when I received the call to take up the challenge! They asked me to be at Radio 702 Studio's on Tuesday to meet Bruce Whitfield and collect the R1000 startup cash.
My idea for a business comes out of a minor hobby I tried out a few months ago. I made a few bracelets. And found that friends wanted to buy them! So my idea for this Challenge was to pay 5 ladies who needed a job to make bracelets, sell them to family, friends, strangers, and of course, the pre-requisite of the Challenge is that all proceeds/profits are to return to Radio 702 for the Starfish Foundation Charity. In this Challenge, I will be up against (in a contest) 4 experts from Radio 702 including Paul Theron, Tshego Modisane, Pavlo Phitidis and Warren Ingram who will each also have R1000 and a challenge to see who out of the 5 of us makes the most profit from R1000 in just 6 weeks!
So last night I quickly set up a website www.beautifulbracelets.co.za (for free using wozaonline.co.za which is a great free service for South African small businesses supported by the DTI, Vodacom, Google and HRDC). Please click on the link, have a look at the Beautiful Bracelets new website, buy something there, and refer your friends!
